"Too lazy to be ambitious,
I let the world take care of itself.
Ten days worth of rice in my bag;
a bundle of twigs by the fireplace.
Why chatter about delusion and enlightenment? Listening to the night rain on my roof, I sit comfortably, with both legs stretched out."

                                                   -Ryokan

There is no grandeur in these words, no outcry of emotion, no sublime awe. Here there is only the beauty of a happy contented soul. These impressions have nothing more to say than that the world is beautiful and filled with divine order, harmony, and love. What message is the world in greater need of than this simple joyful one?

This "Satsang with Nathan" is an invitation; an invitation to come home and rest in our natural state, in what is already whole and complete within ourselves, in what is pure and innocent and untouched; this simple yet profound truth of who we are.

Here in satsang we really aren’t interested in changing anyone or fixing whatever you think is wrong with you. There is nothing wrong with you. Not in reality there's not. In reality whatever you 'think' is wrong with you is really just a story. So it's not what's 'wrong' with you that we're interested in, but what is 'right' with you; what is absolutely perfectly right with you just the way you are now. That's enlightenment.

There is an exquisite paradox that what we are seeking, we already are. The truth is there is nothing you have to do 'first' to become enlightened, nothing you 'can' do to become what you already are. A simple shift in attention confirms this. You have always been your real self.

Once we do wake up or realize who we are; then the miracle isn't how anyone ever becomes enlightened. Then the real miracle is how any of us ever pretended that we're not.

.

  “There is no greater mystery than this,

that we keep seeking reality,

though in fact we are reality.”
